Chapter 2: The Spark

Greetings and welcome back to my blog, the last time I posted may seem like a while but it really was just a week ago, more or less.Today, is when we really begin. We will be exploring some of the things I've made so far, some of the reasons I'm writing, and a bit of a catch up, as to how far I've come.

To start off, I think I'll need to tell you about why I want to be an author in the first place. When I was very young, all of about 3 or 4, I wrote my first book. Now it was no showstopper, it was a simple peice of paper folded in a particularly simple way with a simple story on its pages. I called it: "The Monster And The Boy." It was short, I can't remember what was actually going through my head as I wrote this but it went something like this:

"There once was a boy. And there was a monster. The monster chased the boy. He chased him around the table. He chased him around the chairs. And he chased him around the TV. Then the monster ate the boy, the end"

Now it really was nothing special, it didn't have much content, it was very short, but it was the first book I'd ever written, and my 3 to 4 year old self was extremely proud of it. Now like I said it doesn't really seem like anything special, but this was the realy point in my life where I knew what direction I was going in. I've always wanted to be an author, and that was when it started.

As I grew older I read more and more books, I knew if I wanted to head in this direction I had to know what I was aiming for. Then, one day in school we were set a project, a task to present what the slave trade was like. I don't quite remember how old I was but I was in primary school. I thought about this for a bit and then decided I wanted to write a book, but not just any book, an interactive book. I'd recently read a goosebumps book in which you could choose your outcome by turning to certain pages, and I loved it.

So with the idea formed and my Mums computer expertise, we created a story about becoming a slave, all about what you would do. There were several endings and whatever ending you got, you were given a little information card to read which would educate you on what had just happened to you in the story.

I presented this book as my homework and the teachers were thrilled! As it happened I actually was nominated for a national reading award, so now I have a badge and a certificate somewhere. This was another big step, another way I could tell myself this was the path I wanted to take.

Then came secondary school, this is when I really started unleashing my imagination. I made a game of sorts with my friends called flipnote. It was basically a universe I had designed myself and now I was placing all my friends into it, to do what they wanted. It was sci-fi based, with  various planets and technology, but also magic. I made sure the systems were fair, that everyone had an equal chance, and most importantly, that they could all be exactly who they wanted to be in this universe I had created.

I made a rulebook and maps and a leveling system and abilities and other dimensions and new planets and alien species and I began to view it as my playground. It was my new area where I could do anything, put anything into it and then have myself and my friends battle it or survive it. Whenever I had a new idea, I'd implement it, and everyone loved it. We travelled to past alternate universes, we battled a new living bioweapon and even started to form our own planets outside of my version of this reality. We'd talk about it almost every day, but unfortunately due to the amount of schoolwork steadily rising, this universe we were all part of, slowly dissapeared.

But it wasn't completely wasted, I now know exactly why I want to write stories, it's not just an urge any more, I have a real reason. I come up with all these ideas and characters and creatures and places, but I can never actually go there in reality.

This is why I write, I want to visit so many places, do so many things and I want to share that journey with the world, or you guys, or whoever actually reads this blog. I'm already writing a book at the moment, it may turn out rubbish, but I will finish it before I move on. It really has been great to get this all written down. Keep expecting weekly updates, and stick with me if you like this sort of thing, next week, I'll be showing off a few creations I've made, so thank you for taking time to read this, I really appreciate it, so have a magnofloriously great day, and I'll see you next week!

Chapter 1: The Venture Begins

Greetings and welcome to my very own personal blog, which I will be sharing with the world. I'll start by saying that I've always wanted to be an author, it was the first thing I ever remember wanting to do and the ambition to share my stories still hasn't left me, so here we are today. My name is Cameron, I've decided to make this blog for two reasons. The first being for you guys out there, so you can read and enjoy my ideas and characters and crude drawings of various horrors I can conjure from my mind, and the second, being that I need motivation, I need a reason to write and alone, I really can't, it just doesn't feel right, and that's why you're reading this now.

One thing I need to say is that it took so long to just find a name for this blog. Every name was taken, it took me a whole day, but now here we are, with the best name I could come up with that no one else could think of...or that no one else wanted. This blog will serve as a link to a community that at this time, has yet to form, which I'm sure it will because at least one person will want to read some of the randomness I come up with. I will update it every week if I have time with new characters or ideas, maybe just a little hello and let you know what's going on.

This journey is for me, and for all of you, after all, what's the point in making a blog if no one reads it. The thing is, I have a problem when it comes to writing. I love to write stories and come up with ideas and places and characters and various other things, but I also like to include other people, I'm very sociable. The problem with this is, people come up with great ideas, but then I don't want to use them, because it was their idea not mine. See the problem?

So this blog is kind of a way of saying "Hey I want to include everyone in the development of my stories, I want to see your critisism and sometimes a little bit of praise for good ideas...please?" And sure feel free to add litte suggestions and things like that, I'll just try to leave them to you to develop. I will take all critisism so start throwing it from the first idea I post.

Keep in mind I'm not just on this blog, I have a youtube channel for a hobby more than anything and I do have twitter for those who wish to tweet at me which I will be linking to this blog one day...when I figure out how. I'm sure there are other random internet things I've signed up to aswell that I've long forgotten about but lets not think about them until they actually become useful.

I really am looking forward to this adventure, and I'm hoping other people somewhere in the world are too. I look forward to hearing from a bunch of internet strangers, since that's always fun so I shall see you, next week! Bye!
