So we've gone through all the boring stuff like how I decided I wanted to "auth" and things like that but now, I'm about to share with you what I've been doing for the past year and a bit, maybe more, I don't know.
Planning! Yes I've been plotting and thinking and designing a story, with various characters and a whole timeline and so far, I'm liking it. There are a few loose ends that need tying up but as a whole I believe it's a solid plot. Now what I've done, is I've set out various points of the story, saying that certain things have to happen at certain points. What I haven't done, is fill in what happens to cause these events. This means, I'll be planning as I go along and writing how I see fit. Of course there will be a small amount of plotting to make sure it all makes sense but for the most part, I'm free to design and play around with the characters as I please.
If you've ever read a series called "Skulduggery Pleasant" then you may recognise the name "Derek Landy." I may have mentioned this before but once upon a time I met Mr Landy at a book signing, and I asked him a question. I remember saying I wanted to be an author and I wanted to know if he had any tips. And he said something like this; "Whenever you write a book, you need to enjoy writing it, make the story for yourself, and it's quite likely that other people will like it too." And this is advice I have kept with me as I write.
I'm currently writing one book and designing this other one. The thing is I have been experiencing a little writers block, I don't know why, it's just my brain being stupid, but I'm not enjoying it. When I was writing I lived it, slowly designing the story as I went and fleshing out characters more and more. I'm not so sure about the book I'm writing, but I'm going to finish it. After all, authors write tons of rubbish before they find the book they've wanted to write all along.
I feel like I'm just rambling now but I will make sure the book is finished, and I will write this book I'm planning too.
